2018 Independent Colleges & Universities Advocacy Day

The 2018 Independent Colleges & Universities Advocacy Day will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

Advocacy Day is an opportunity to encourage the legislature to continue investing in the Michigan Tuition Grant and maintain access to higher education for Michigan students. Additionally, it is an opportunity to:

  • Share information on how Independent Colleges & Universities make higher education more accessible to Michigan students

  • Express the commitment to ensuring students complete their degrees

  • Review with legislators information about your institution and the personalized support for students

New this year, we are encouraging members to bring their college mascot with them. Mascots have been a successful way to attract attention and excitement for other groups/organizations. An agenda for the day will be released soon; however, Advocacy Day will include a training session on effective ways to communicate with legislators, tables to display your institution, meetings with legislators, and more!

Attendees: MICU member presidents, board members, students, faculty, and other college representatives.

Please bring: Institution table cloth and signage (similar to college fair presentation), institution swag and other materials to share with legislators and staff, wear clothing with institution name, and NEW this year-your college mascot.

As part of the planning process for the 2018 Independent Colleges & Universities Advocacy Day, we need information from you to ensure we have the right space, supplies, and meals. We need a separate registration from each participant.  Advocacy Day Registration.
